Last Minute Fourth of July Essentials

Happy Fourth of July! Whether you’re celebrating Independence Day with a camping trip on the river, a day of paddling on the lake, a block party, or a cookout, we have everything you need to stay comfortable and prepared for the Fourth. Here are a few 4th of July essentials that you can pick up at the store today!

Headlamp

Trying to light a 500-gram firework cake in the darkĀ  is a good way to lose an eye. Headlamps provide a hands-free light source for everything from lighting fireworks to pitching a tent in the dark.

Pocket knife

Nothing says, “I’m prepared for anything and everything” like a pocket knife. A good blade comes in handy for culinary purposes, pyrotechnics, and camp chores alike.

Bandana

Looking for something to dab the sweat from your brow and mop up watermelon juice off the picnic table? Enter bandana. You get bonus points for an American flag bandana on the Fourth.

Bug spray

Mosquitoes suck, ticks suck, and chiggers bite. Keep them in line and away from your Independence party with a bottle of insect repellent.

Sunglasses

A day in the sun can wreak havoc on your vision. Pop on a pair of sunglasses to look cool and preserve your rods and cones for the late night fireworks displays.

Camping chair

You may not be camping (or maybe you are) but a camping chair is useful for all of your Fourth of July celebrations. Grab a chair whether your watching a fireworks display or enjoying a cookout in the backyard.

Insulated tumbler

Iced tea – sweet, Long Island, or otherwise – is meant to stay iced. Keep your coffee hot at sunrise and your cold beverages frosty cold after sunset with an insulated tumbler from Hydro Flask or Klean Kanteen.

Sunhat

The longer you’re out in the sun, the more important it is to keep those harmful UV rays of your beautiful face – or ugly mug as the case may be. Pull on a wide brim sunhat.

Technical hiking shirt

Tees and tanks are good and all, but they can’t touch a technical button up hiking shirt. Hiking shirts offer SPF protection and moisture management. They’re lightweight, breathable, durable, and they still keep you looking presentable for your Independence Day shindig.

Lightweight travel hammock

There’s no better way to watch the pops, crackles, and whistles of a fireworks display than laying out in a hammock.
