Spring is (Officially) Here – Get Out and Celebrate!

As far as the weather is concerned, it’s been spring in Northwest Arkansas for a while. However, today it’s official. It’s the first day of spring! This morning – at 5:28 a.m. – the sun crossed the celestial equator marking the Vernal Equinox. So while it’s still a Monday, the first day of spring is something worth celebrating!

There’s no better way to celebrate spring than get outside and enjoy the wonderful weather and burgeoning plant life. But while we would all like to take the day off and play outdoors, that’s not always an option.

Time outdoors doesn’t have to be epic week long ventures into remote wilderness. There are plenty of ways to get outside when your responsibilities are keeping you in town!

Go for a walk

Take a stroll this morning, or go for a walk on your lunch break or in between classes. Breathe in the fresh spring air and stretch your legs a bit!

Walk your dog

Your furry little friend loves spring weather just as much as you do. Enjoy the first day of spring by taking your dog for a walk!

Ride a bike

Bike to work or campus today instead of driving. Not only will this get your outdoors, but it’s also good for you and good for the environment.

Go for a hike

You may not have time to do that 10-mile loop, but you can still squeeze in a hike before or after work.

Go to the park

Run, play, picnic, or relax. Bask in the first day of spring!

Eat outside

If your busy schedule is keeping you from the campgrounds, take your meals out to the porch or patio. It’s not quite as good as a campsite, but it sure beats staying indoors!

If you can get outside today, great! If you have to wait until the weekend, that’s OK too. We’ll be here to provide you with the outdoor gear, camping supplies, and hiking equipment you need for an afternoon,  day, weekend, or week out in nature!
