Osprey Packs Are In!

We love hiking and backpacking here at Uncle Sam’s Safari Outfitters, and we also love hiking and backpacking gear! Of course, we realize that it might seem a little silly to get excited about gear. Still, we aren’t ashamed to say that we’re thrilled about the big brown boxes full of packs that recently arrived at our store! We’ve just re-upped on our supply of Osprey packs! Here are highlights on few of the packs that we received in our most recent shipment.

Volt 75

This big boy from Osprey is a 75 -liter backpacking pack designed for multiple days on the trail. This pack is simple and pure, and cuts the fluff from your pack. If you’re looking for a large hiking backpack that can handle a week-long trip, and don’t want any of the bells and whistles, the Volt 75 is the pack for you. This is durable one-size-fits all pack is comfortable, adjustable, and easy to load.

Transporter 65

The Transporter 65 is a 65-liter duffel bag made for car camping and road trips. This burly bag can fit all the gear you throw at it, and is durable enough to chuck, drag, toss, and scoot to your heart’s content, and a U-shaped lid ensures easy access to all of your belongings. The Transporter 65 is certainly out of place on the trail, but it’s right at home for all of your other travels.

Viva 50

This women’s specific pack from Osprey is ideal for ladies wanting a clean, simple, and capable pack. Its 50-liter capacity can carry 30-50 pounds of pack weight comfortably. Like the Volt pack, this is an adjustable, one-size-fits-all pack that emphasizes function over form.

Kestrel 48

A 48-liter pack straddles the day-hiking and backpacking categories. While it would be difficult to spend a whole week on the trail with this pack, weekend trips are manageable, and you could carry everything you could possibly want on a day hike. Unlike other packs of this size, however, the Kestrel 48’s StraightJacket™  side compression straps allow you to cinch down the pack when you don’t need the extra space.

While it would be wonderful if we could spend all of our time out in nature, that’s not the way life goes for most people. That’s where the Quasar comes in. This pack can handle a day on the trail, a load of textbooks on your way to school, a light load of groceries, or whatever you happen to be commuting with on your bicycle for the day. This 28-liter pack does it all, and can be put to use on a daily basis.

Raptor 10

This pack is perfect for day hikers who travel light, or mountain bikers looking to put in a hard day’s work. The Raptor 10 accommodates a 3-liter water reservoir and your basic essentials, like a light jacket and your food for the day.
