National Park Week

National Park WeekThe National Park Service is turning 100 this year, and one of the biggest celebrations is taking place next week. National Park Week starts tomorrow, and there will be free entrance to all national parks and national monuments from April 16th through April 24th. If you’ve been looking to visit one – or more – of America’s national parks, don’t miss the opportunity to do so free of admission!

The NPS calls National Park Week, “America’s largest celebration of national heritage”. While this is a bold claim, there’s definitely something to it. Our national parks do more than just boast some breathtaking scenery and spectacular natural wonders. The parks also give visitors a chance to learn more about our nation’s history, and provide families with the opportunity develop an appreciation for nature, recognize the importance of the environment, and create meaningful, lasting memories together.

Here’s a breakdown of what’s going on during National Park Week:

  • April 16th is National Junior Ranger Day. Your kid can earn his or her junior ranger badge or even become a Centennial Junior Ranger!
  • April 22nd is Earth Day. Get your hands dirty and volunteer at a national park!
  • April 23rd is your chance to join a national park Instameet. Use hashtags: #FindYourParkInstaMeet, #FindYourPark, #EncuentraTuParque, #NPS100 to share your experience on social media.
  • April 24th is Park Rx Day. There will be a whole slew of activities to encourage healthy living.

Of course, there will also be free admission to all of the national parks during National Park Week (April 16th-24th). There’s no better time to make your way towards a national park. If you and your family are putting a trip together, make sure that you stop by and see us before hitting the road! We have everything that you need to make the most of your outdoor vacation.
