There’s More Than One Way to Cook a S’more

S'more ingredients: chocolate, marshmallow, graham cracker, and sticks.Graham cracker, marshmallow, and milk chocolate – it’s a classic campfire treat known as a s’more. You’ve probably been making these simple camping snacks since you were a kid, but are you making the most of it? It’s easy to fall into a routine, and there are only so many years before the graham cracker, chocolate, marshmallow, graham cracker stacking method begins to feel a little monotonous.

Get a little more adventurous with your s’mores. Here are some creative s’mores recipe ideas to break your boring s’more habit.

Try using Reese’s Cups or a different type of candy bar instead of plain milk chocolate. Ghirardelli squares come in a variety of flavors and are the perfect size for s’mores.

Double down or make a Dagwood. Why stop at one layer when you can pile your s’more sky high? Warning: The height of the s’more directly corresponds to the level of difficulty in eating said s’more.

Toss your ingredients in a foil packet and enjoy your s’more with a fork. This is an ideal method for the more refined s’mores aficionados.

Try out different cookies instead of graham crackers. Oreo cookies, chocolate chip cookies, waffle cookies, wafers, rice crispy treats, etc. are all fair game.

Add sliced bananas or strawberries to give your s’more a more complex flavor.

If you’re keen on the fruit idea, try a s’more banana boat.

If you’re looking to take your dessert to the big league, try a more substantial version of the s’more with a dutch oven s’mores cake.

Get creative and make your s’more a canvas. Add raisins, chocolate covered raisins, coconut, peanut butter, Nutella, sprinkles, pretzels, bacon, or whatever.

Of course, there are times when nothing beats a classic. Graham cracker, chocolate, marshmallow, graham cracker, consume, repeat.
