Why You Want a Multitool

MultitoolThere’s something to be said for being prepared, and having a multitool allows you to be prepared without hauling around an entire toolbox everywhere you go. Multitools are one of the most practical and convenient pieces of equipment around, and it’s a good idea to keep a multitool in your car, tackle box, day pack, or whatever. You never know when a multitool will come in handy.

So what is a multitool? A multitool combines a number of useful hand tools into a single package. Victorinox and Wenger, makers of Swiss Army Knives, as well as Leatherman put out some of the most popular and well-known multitools on the market. There are, however, plenty of other multitool manufacturers out there.

A multitool might contain things such as a knife, pliers, saw, file, can opener, screwdrivers, and the like in different variations and combinations. A multitool may be extremely basic, consisting of a couple of different knives, a flat head, and a Phillips head, or it may house everything you need to dismantle an entire lawnmower.

But you probably don’t need to take lawnmowers apart, and that’s certainly not why you want a multitool. You want a multitool because they are incredibly useful in a variety of situations, and they are compact enough to sit in your pack pocket or glove compartment without taking up a lot of space.

If you need to replace a taillight, fix a broken zipper on your jacket, cut tangled fishing line, or make an emergency shelter, mulitools are perfect for the job. The great thing about multitools is the versatility that they provide and their availability. Instead of carrying around a pair of pliers, a pair of scissors, multiple screw drivers, a knife, and a saw, you can just carry a single multitool.

Mulitools are an affordable, convenient, and compact way of always making sure that you have the right tool for the job.
