Tour de Fun

bikes-300x168Imagine taking part in a grueling 22-day bicycle race that covers 2,300 miles through the French countryside. Pedaling up mountains until your legs become gelatin and then hurtling down the other side at break neck speeds around tight corners. That’s the Tour de France. While it might sound exciting, it doesn’t exactly sound fun. However, Rogers’s Tour de Fun is exactly what the name suggests.

This Saturday, June 14th, downtown Rogers will host the 8th Annual Tour de Fun. The event is a fundraiser for the Teen Action & Support Center (TASC) and proceeds go to support local teens. TASC’s mission is to “encourage youth ages 13-19 to realize their full potential by providing free support services that promote the development of responsible and productive members of the community.” An event that encourages families to spend time together embraces TASC’s goal.

There will be a 100K bike ride and a 50K bike route as well as a timed 5K run and a family 5K. This gives options for the competitive and the leisurely. Trikes and leashed dogs are welcome on the family 5K. This will be a great event for families that are looking to get out and do something active.

There will be lots going on including an activity center for kids. Plus Core brewing company will be there holding it down at the beer garden for the parents. Who doesn’t like a nice cold beer after a nice bike ride? The focus is obviously on fun as well as making it an event for the whole family.

This should be a really fun event. Register here to support a good cause and have a great time!
