New Year’s Resolutions for Outdoor Lovers

Mount-Everest-by-Mot the barberWe’ve enjoyed celebrating Christmas with our friends and families, we’ve caught the new movies and caught up on everyone’s news.

Now we’re ready to get back outside and move. We want to get out and use the new gear that made it under our trees.

As you head out hiking or climbing or skiing this week, take some time to think about your New Year’s resolutions. Here’s our list of things outdoor lovers — and people who want to spend more time outdoors, too — might want to accomplish in 2014.

  1. Do a trail cleanup.
  2. Learn a new outdoor skill, like fly fishing, bushcraft, or rock climbing techniques.
  3. Take your friends out for a weekend of camping and hiking.
  4. Spend more time with your family away from screens and in nature.
  5. Teach children, yours or someone else’s, about the outdoors.
  6. Add one outdoor activity to your weekly routine.
  7. Get in shape so you can tackle better and bigger outdoor challenges.
  8. Plan one really big trip to a national park or other great outdoor destination.
  9. Try some new recipes while camping.
  10. Take better care of your gear.
  11. Work towards upgrade your gear that’s worn out.
  12. Change up your outdoor routines by trying new trails or doing them backwards.

We hope these resolutions spark your imagination for what you can accomplish this year. If you have big plans that require new gear, we can help outfit your to help you on your way towards your ultimate New Year’s resolution, even if it means climbing Everest.
