Our Favorite Arkansas Outdoor Blogs
We love reading what other people write about gear, trips and what they love to do outdoors. Here’s out roundup of some of our local favorite outdoor blogs — they’ll help you experience what Northwest Arkansas has to offer.
Arklahoma Hiker
Written by a laywer, a CPA, and a media guru, this blog is an amazing resource of area hikes. Mike, Shelley and Brent write up in-depth recaps of hikes, complete with information about hike elevation, photos, and what trail conditions were like during their hikes. Shelley and Brent also have their own blogs but this is our go-to source for hike information because it’s just so exhaustive! Also be sure to check out their trail mapping tool that shows you hikes in your area that they’ve written about.
MidSouth Hiking
Written by a hiking enthusiast, Jeff, this blog recounts hiking adventures in the area as well as information about trails. There’s also a forum where you can discuss hikes you’ve gone on with other users and read posts from Jeff.
Exploring Northwest Arkansas
This blog from Brent of Arklahoma hiker has beautiful photos of Buffalo River adventures, both on land and water. If you’re headed to a hike or trip out there this summer, definitely make sure to check out Brent’s blog before heading out to gather up ideas on great things to do in the area.
Arkansas Outside
While more geared to the biking and running set, this blog features all kinds of outdoor events and festivals in Arkansas. You’ll definitely want to add them to your list of blogs to check regularly for updates on things to do!
Ouachita Hiking Journal
An oldie but a goodie! This blog hasn’t been updated in ages but we still love it anyway. It’s full of photography and nature videos that make us fall in love with Arkansas all over again.
