Lake Wedington Hiking Trail

Lake Wedington, about 16 miles outside of Fayetteville, Arkansas, has a hiking trail that takes you to some beautiful spots — like this waterfall. This picture was taken in June, but the Ozarks is beautiful in all seasons.

The Lakeshore Hiking Trail is 15.4 miles long, and has enough ups and downs to make it a good full-day hike. It doesn’t loop, so you should plan either to camp out and head back the next day or to have someone pick you up at the other end.

One end of the trail is in the park (Lake Wedington Recreation Area) proper, where you can rent a cabin or a camping space, and the other is at a picnic area a few miles down the road.

In warm weather, the lake offers plenty of fun opportunities, including swimming and boating. Fishing is always an option.

On the other side of the road you’ll find the 7 mile North Twin hiking/biking trail. The two trails, water recreation, and comfortable camping options make this a perfect choice for a hiking weekend. Pick up anything you need at Uncle Sam’s in Evelyn Hills in Fayetteville before you head out, and have a terrific outdoor adventure right in our back yard.
