Getting to Know Kershaw

Kershaw makes knives not only of the typical steel and aluminum, but also of rare materials like Sandvik 14C28N (a new grade of steel) and titanium carbo-nitride (a coating to increase hardness of metals). The knives have special tech features like lever-assisted one-handed SpeedSafe opening. Translucent handles and other edgy styling details distinguish the knives, too. And yet, “Best Buy of 2012” is among the awards won by Kershaw knives.

Kershaw is one of the newer knife manufacturers carried here at Uncle Sam’s, having been established in the 1970s in Oregon. Just a few years after they launched, Kershaw joined Kai USA, an award-winning company that makes both tactical knives and kitchen cutlery. With Kershaw’s outdoor sports knives added to the mix, Kai regularly sweeps competitions, winning in all categories of knives.
