On the Road (or in the Air)

We’re heading to the Outdoor Retailer summer market to find great new gear for your outdoor sports. It’s not a road trip, though, because we’re flying.

Today is the first day of the show, and it’s the Open Air Demo — AKA paddling, running, jousting, treasure hunting fun day at Jordanelle State Park.

There will be 167 vendors, so we don’t plan to be playing all the time. However, most days we have meetings set up with the people who make the excellent outdoor sports gear we keep at Uncle Sam’s Safari Outfitters, so we have to get a bit of fresh air today.

We’ll be in Salt Lake City, Utah. The city is overlooked by mountains and is a great place for outdoor sports.

Today we’re thinking mostly about water sports, which is a good plan in August, though it’s cooler in Utah than in Arkansas.

We’ll be at the Salt Palace Convention Center after today. One of the fun things going on is a search for Sassy, a Sasquatch designed by Kokatat to celebrate American-made goods. Kokata will be  hiding Sassy somewhere in the gigantic trade show room and giving away a T shirt to everyone who sees him in his hiding place.

We at Uncle Sam’s naturally carry plenty of American-made goods, and we like the idea of a shy Sasquatch hiding out in the convention center. We’re seriously hoping to bring back one of those T shirts!
