An Outdoor Lover’s Creative Uses for Thanksgiving Leftovers

tday-piesThanksgiving dinner has been cleaned away and the fridge is full of leftovers. While some families might lie around eating those leftovers and napping all weekend, it’s not the best choice for your healt.

So now what should you do with the rest of your long weekend? And how can you put those Turkey Day leftovers to best use? Try these different activities for a weekend filled with fun and put those leftovers (even the terrible ones) to good use.

  1. Go hiking on a trail in Fayetteville and take a picnic lunch of turkey sandwiches.
  2. Take a canoe out on Lake Wedington and use your aunt’s unpopular side dish for bait.
  3. Teach your dog how to catch a frisbee by slathering leftover gravy on the Frisbee rim.
  4. Make soup out of leftovers, pack it in a thermos, and hike up to a spot with a view.
  5. Grab some MREs and have a cooking contest with friends and family using leftovers to spice them up.
  6. Bribe your friends with grandma’s famous pie to spot you while climbing.
  7. Sprinkle dried up stuffing leftovers and watch the birds feast.
  8. Make cranberry ice cream with leftover whipping cream and cranberry sauce in a can by kicking it around the yard.
